An easy to update site for a restaurant

The Project

Bufalina is a wood-fired pizzeria in Guilford, Connecticut with an unusual menu featuring fresh ingredients.

What We Did

Since the clients were used to blogging with WordPress, we implemented the site using WordPress with a custom theme based on the design of the restaurant’s menu. Since the clients did not want to blog on the restaurant site, we used the blog capability of WordPress to implement the daily/weekly special list on the front page. Theoretically, this would let their customers subscribe to the blog’s RSS feed to get updates on the specials. The clients just need to make new blog posts as new specials become active. No comment form is provided, so it is not necessary to turn off commenting on individual blog posts.

To avoid showing expired specials, the number of blog posts on the front page is limited to the most recent published post.

We also used CSS3 web fonts, so the text is rendered in a font similar to that used on the menus instead of one of the over-used standard browser fonts.
